Yes, another freebee! Can you believe it? Talented artists have just been throwing free stuff around. I love it just as much as you, believe me.
This time the treats come from Planet Earth and YAWN.
First up, Planet Earth.
I am not a fan of Valentines Day. No one ever sends me cards + it’s a bit of a commerical thing, isn’t it? Anyway, the good thing is that bands like Planet Earth decide to give out their ep For Modern Lovers for free for the occasion. And I could not be happier about it as it is a rather lovely thing. Very basic instrumentation, placing the voice and lyrics on the foreground. Just take this gem in from Love Scientists as example:
“I’m a fossil. Baby, fossils are a bore.
But if you let me I could be your favourite dinosaur.”
The singer’s voice reminds me a bit of Sparky Deathcap and another resemblance are their witty lyrics. It’s all good, as you might have noticed. It makes me curious to hear more material.
But for now, let’s all enjoy these two songs
Planet Earth – Love Scientists [mp3]
Planet Earth – Goodbye Song [mp3]
Number two on my list are YAWN.
Brought to my attention by Dilly Boys (writing in Dutch but they always have the greatest recommendations) I was immediately sold. Focus is on the percussion and they use a whole range of weird sounds in their songs. A bit experimental yet very poppy. I like!
Here are two free tracks from their first, selftitled, ep. A second one is on the way.
YAWN – Toys [mp3]
YAWN – Kind of Guy [mp3]
Hope you all have a lovely weekend, whether it includes Valentines Day cards or not.
